Bio

Ms. Kopell is a screenwriter and freelance script consultant. She has also worked as a script evaluator for the American Film Institute, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Marin Council for the Arts. Ms. Kopell teaches beginning and advanced screenwriting workshops and has also taught screenwriting at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, The New School of Social Research, and San Francisco State. She has written for HBO, A&E, PBS as well as Los Angeles and New York based producers. Publications include "Writing Historical Fiction" for Creative Screenwriting. She's a member of the Writers Guild of America, East.

Production

Co-Founder of Eureka Studios, San Francisco Eureka Studios, founded in 1992, produces award winning documentary, corporate, educational films and videotapes , as well as multi--media projects. Clients include Sun Microsystems, Oracle, Wells Fargo Bank, PG&E, The Hearst Corporation, Con Edison, and the State of California. Current projects include a DVD documentary with Lawrence Ferlinghetti and David Amram, to be released Summer 2002.

"Bessie: An Artist at Work," producer, director. A 20 minute documentary on Stockbridge painter Bessie Boris. H/K Productions, 1993.

"Son of Sam and Delilah," creative consultant. A 30 minute experimental video and performance piece exploring the emotional impact of AIDS on New York's Downtown community. Broadcast on PBS. Directed by Charles Atlas, 1990.

"Because We Must," editor. A 60 minute television program starring British choreographer Michael Clark, directed by video artist Charles Atlas. Produced by Channel 4, London, 1990.

"One Small Step," producer, writer, director. A 20 minute narrative short, screened at Museum of Modern Art, broadcast premiere on The Arts and Entertainment Network, 1987.

"Alive From Off-Center -- As Seen On TV," editor. A 30 minute television program starring Bill Irwin. Produced by WGBH and KTCA, 1987.

"Ex-Romance," co-editor with director. An hour film starring choreographer and dancer Karole Armitage, directed by Charles Atlas. Produced for "New Television" by WGBH and BBC, 1987.

"Yeah, Yeah, Yeah," editor. A 20 minute narrative. Winner of Best Editing, 45th NYU Film Festival, 1986.

"Roger Vadim's Home Movies," editor. A 20 minute film focusing on Vadim's marriages to Bardot, Deneuve, and Fonda. Broadcast nationally. Produced by Simon and Schuster, 1986.
